4th and 5th September 2010
The CPAG organises for the third consecutive year the Chausey leg of the Labrax Cup starting from Granville to the wonderful site of the Chausey Islands.
Most of the organisation (podium, competition co-ordination centre (“pc”), dinner, as well as accommodation ...) will be in a single location directly accessible from the harbour, thanks to the town of Granville that allows us to use the “Salle de Herel”
The harbour of Hérel
You will find the city of Granville very pleasant, with its extraordinary panorama allowing you to discover the bay of the Mont St Michel, the Chausey Islands and to the North the Cotentin. Next to the fishing harbour, the harbour of Hérel has a capacity of a thousand leisure boat, with further capacity in the pipeline.
9 miles away from the « pointe du Roc », Chausey has always been closely connected to Granville and has been attached to the town since 1802.
Since its separation from the continent a few thousand years ago, the archipelago lives according to the tides. Granville and Chausey can boast the highest tides in Europe: the difference of sea level between low and high tide goes up to 15 meters during spring tides.
The Islands cover an area of approximately 65 hectares at high tide and up to 5000 ha at low tide during springt tides ; a company owns the largest island and the rest of the archipel ago is included in the area called “Natura 2000”.
